Event synopsis
Trust for London is supporting Policy in Practice to track income, employment, poverty and the impact of welfare reforms on over half a million low income households across London.
This event will showcase the findings of nearly 2 years of research using data from 19 London Boroughs, examining the living standards of low income Londoners.
The findings of the analysis will look at:
- How have the living standards of low-income Londoners changed in the past two years
- The different impact that welfare reform is having across the capital
- What challenges lie ahead for families on low incomes in London
We will also be joined by Rose Doran, Senior Adviser, Local Government Association, who will speak about the value of the project, both through the powerful use of data, and through the cross-borough collaboration with local authorities working together. The LGA would like to see similar approaches to the use of data adopted outside of London, because of the impact this can have on national policy.

We simplify the welfare system by showing people how policy affects them.
We show local authorities how individual households are affected by all policy changes, now and in the future.
We talk to government on a national level to influence policy.
