The impact Policy in Practice had in 2017

We are delighted to share the impact Policy in Practice had in 2017. Here are some of the key numbers that would not have been possible without your support.
Policy in Practice helps make the welfare system simple to understand
Policy in Practice partners with ERSA, Ingeus and Pluss to deliver Work and Health

Policy in Practice and ERSA have joined forces to help drive change in the employment support sector. Helping people realise the benefits of work is a key aim of both organisations and we're looking forward to working together on lots of interesting activity this year.

Together we will bring our respective experiences and knowledge to drive innovation in the sector. First up, we will be sharing our latest analysis on the impact of welfare reforms on low income Londoners at ERSA's Employment Support London event on Thursday 22 February.

In addition, Policy in Practice has been chosen to support two of the five providers of the Work and Health Programme, Ingeus and Pluss.

Ingeus will deliver the Work and Health Programme in the North West and Pluss will deliver the contract in Southern England. Both organisations chose Policy in Practice's Benefit and Budgeting Calculator to help programme participants understand the benefits they could get and the impact of earnings or other changes.

Leading Lights: DWP engagement and a tour of JCPs
Policy in Practice welcomes the appointment of Rt Hon Esther McVey who was appointed Secretary of State for Work and Pensions on 8 January 2018 in the Prime Minister's latest reshuffle. We look forward to continuing the postive relationship we have with the DWP in this important year for delivery of Universal Credit full service and the new Work and Health programme.

Following on from the successful Leading Lights Network event we held at the House of Lords in October, Deven Ghelani and Lord Kirkwood will be visiting a number of Job Centre Plus offices from February. From the visits Archy and Deven want to see firsthand the experience of claimants, as well as frontline advisors, as the roll out of Universal Credit full service continues. The first visit will be to a JCP in Kent in early February. This practical fact finding activity will build on the ongoing engagement Policy in Practice continues to have with the DWP.

Our next Leading Lights event is a local authority led roundtable discussion on how to improve lives through holistic support, to reduce dependency.
